(Traffic is way up here, but I can't tell if it's my series on monitor calibration/printer profiles or my movie reviews. What else could it be? To be safe, I'll throw in a movie review tonight.)
Just saw Take the Lead. The story didn't really work for me, but the New York feel (actually shot in Ontario, except for aerials), the dancing, the music, and the characters were great.
A week or so ago I finally saw Mad Hot Ballroom, which my daughter had been raving (!) about. A terrific documentary, if a little repetitive. More NY, but this one obviously was actually shot in NY.
By far the best ballroom dancing movie has to be Strictly Ballroom, an Australian film that came out in 1992. (Its director, Baz Luhrmann, went on to make Moulin Rouge!.) Best line: "We lived our lives in fear!" (said with much regret).
Wait a minute... what am I saying? V for Vendetta had a ballroom dancing scene, too! So move Strictly Ballroom to #2.
