Remember that phrase? It meant FAST! Not only do you get things fast (downloadable software and ebooks), but it also means you can start a web company and get big fast (Amazon). And, if you have a question, you can post it to a forum and get a response fast.
So, trying to prepare a song for my daughter's Birthday Party back in 2002, and finding my teacher out of town, I posted this on pianostreet.com:
What does "G/B" mean? « on: April 14, 2002, 08:01:46 AM »I'm trying to play from a fake book, and a chord is marked "G/B." I at first assumed this meant "G chord" followed by "B chord," but then I wasn't so sure, and thought maybe it's some notation that I don't know about.
Can anyone straighten me out?
On internet time, I got my answer. A few of them, in fact. And then somebody decided just today to answer again:
Reply #3 on: Today at 08:14:51 AM »yeah what he said. anychord with a slash, such as Bb/C or Abm7/Eb, play the chord on the left, with the right hand side note down the bottom. Slash chords are used alot for creating pedal tones...
C, Gm7, F/C, C
C, Bb/C, F, C
sorry just doing some internal composition....
My theory is that this helpful pianist looked at the date of my query (April 14), figured the International Dateline had somehow been crossed, and responded on what he thought was the same day.
I guess he didn't see that it's four years later. Anyway, thanks... as I recall, the party went OK.
Can you imagine if we had the internet 130 years ago?
I need to get out of here! « on: June 25, 1876, 08:01:46 AM »I think I don't belong here... some unfriendlies are approaching, and I'm in trouble. What's the quickest way out?
